Located in Belmont, North Carolina, Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden is a relatively young garden with a variety of different features to show the guests, especially for the families, gardeners and educational institutions.
Although they try to offer something for every season, all year long, the garden is known as a fall garden that hits its peak time right in late August and September. The time to come and see the biggest show is September.

Canal Garden And Cottage Garden
It’s the core feature of the garden that hits its peak in September. It is planted with a lot of what are known as perennial tropicals, like bananas and palm trees. Through the summer, they feature summer tropicals and in the fall, everyone loves their Muhly Grasses or Muhlbergia. At the back of the garden you can see the cottage garden with interesting architectural design and features cottage plants, crown fountain and more stunning flowers and perennial plants.
You can interact and have fun at their butterfly conservatory where you’ll be able to see several hundreds or thousands of butterflies and it will be a great exhibit to come out and see. In addition, they also have an orchid conservatory that features unique, beautiful and bright colors flowers and plants in a tropical backdrop. This comes into peak in January, February and March.
Winter has become one of the garden’s biggest seasons because there are thousands of people that come out for the Holiday lights, which starts the day after Thanksgiving through the end of December from 5pm to 9pm on weekdays and open until 10pm during the weekends. Basically, they decorate the garden with over 500,000 lights, music, entertainment, coffee bar, Santa’s and more. This is a good way for people to get out and get together during the holiday season.
This beautiful garden provides a number of educational programs and classes every month that you can take on a variety of topics. On top of that, they have a lecture series and public events that are going on all year round. With the help of their knowledgeable staff, you can learn a lot of new and great ideas through their events and programs. They also bring school groups from all around the region.
This impressive garden is such as beautiful setting from an artistic perspective. The conservatory has several glass sculptures and other areas feature painting exhibits and unique garden pieces.
Admission starts at $12.95 for adults but they offer a membership with a one-time fee, allowing members get in free all year round. They do also offer a variety of discounts to make it affordable for everyone.
