Take The Stress Out Of Choosing Paint Colors

With so many options, it can be difficult to choose the right paint colors for your interior walls, cabinets, built-ins, or kitchen islands. And when you do narrow down your paint color choice, it may be hard to imagine exactly what that color will look like once it is applied. Using a visualizer can help you make a more informed decision before you make a costly purchase.

Our professional digital renderings are a great way to see what your home will look like with a fresh coat of paint. You can choose from the thousands of interior paint colors or exterior paint colors offered by the major paint brands – Sherwin Williams, Benjamin Moore, or PPG. You can also select from a HEX or RGB color code. The possibilities are endless. Our visualizer allows you to choose up to two paint colors for each image. And, if you are still not sure, you can order more color changes for only $15 each. Changing the paint color of a room can be a big decision. Beyond that, painting a room can be costly, depending on the paint chosen and labor involved. You want to make sure you have the right colors before you take that final step.

There are several visualizer services and apps on the market. What sets ours apart? The Cardinal Pro visualizer takes a real image of your room to create a realistic and accurate digital rendering. Our visualizer also offers many more paint color options than our competitors. Many other apps only give you choices from one or two paint brands. We don’t limit you in that way. Additionally, if you use our visualizer, it gives our professional painters a perfect guide to complete the project. There will be less chance for miscommunication as they can see exactly how you expect the room to look with new paint colors.

Tips For Finding The Right Color

It is possible to change or alter the feel of a room with a new paint color. You can make dramatic impact with contrasting colors or vary the shades for a more subtle feel. Where do you start? A good place to begin is the basic color wheel.

Those colors which appear close to each other on the color wheel are considered analogous and allow for one to stand out more than the other. Colors which appear opposite each other on the wheel are considered complementary and allow both to work together nicely. Cool and warm colors tend to be complementary to each other. Cooler paint colors, such as purples, greens, and blues can make a room appear larger. Warmer colors, such as oranges, yellow, and reds tend to be more vibrant. You can also consider staying within the same shade of color. Shades can be pure, vibrant, muted, or dark. Different choices can change the overall mood of a room.

Here are some more tips for getting the right color for your room:

Look for inspiration

There are plenty of resources out there to give you an idea of what you want your own home to look like. Browse through magazines, make a Pinterest board, watch home improvement shows, or visit home and garden shows in your community. You are sure to find some examples that you like.

Keep it neutral

While it might be tempting to make a bold statement on your walls, the chances are greater that a neutral palette is your best option, especially in a large room such as a living room or kitchen. If you choose a neutral color for your walls, you can make more fun choices with art and accessories.

Choose the right paint sheen

There are several sheens available for paint and you need to make sure you select one that works with your home and lifestyle. Here are the basics:

  • Flat/Matte: No shine. It is best for low traffic areas as it is difficult to clean.
  • Flat Enamel: Almost no shine. Slightly easier to clean.
  • Eggshell Enamel: A little shine. Good for moderate traffic areas. Scuffs can be wiped with a damp cloth.
  • Satin Enamel: Mild shine. Very easy to clean and good for high traffic areas like kitchen and bathroom.
  • Semi-Gloss Enamel: Shiny. Best choice for cabinets or trim.
  • Hi-Gloss Enamel:  Very shiny. Use mostly on railings or furniture.

Use a color theme throughout your entire home

One of the easiest ways to choose paint colors is to have a common color theme throughout your home. This doesn’t mean you need to paint every room the same color. Rather, think about varying shades of one color, particularly in rooms that connect or share a wall.
